Faisalabad’s horse tram

famous social activist named Ganga Ram – an engineer by profession – came up with a novel idea to make life easy for the people of his village. He introduced a unique travelling facility called the Ghoda Train (horse-pulled tram service) in Jaranwala – a tehsil in Faisalabad district.
PTV and BBC had made documentaries on this horse tram which attracted many tourists to the area.

Similary Dawn report quotes 1993 as the year when the horse tram service got suspended (reason given is stolen track pieces). At another web source this date is given as 1998. I've used 1998 in the post above -- but wanted to let our readers know that there is +/- 5 years approximation here.

I will of course be looking to authenticate these dates and to remove the margin of error. As always help from readers is sought.

فیصل آباد شہر کی تحصیل (جڑانوالا)  چک نمبر591(گ،ب)  میں 1898 میں اس ٹرین کی بنیاد سر گنگا رام نے رکھی اور یہ منصوبہ 1903 میں پایہ تکمیل کو پہنچا۔اس ٹرین پر 15 لوگ باآسانی سفر کر سکتے تھے۔ 3 کلومیٹر تک لوہے ک ٹرین ٹریک بچھا دئے گے۔ ڈان نیوز کے مطابق 1993  تک لوگ اس گھوڑا ٹرین کے سفر سے مستفید ہوتے رہے،اور ایک رپورٹ کے مطابق 1998 تک الفاظ ملتے ہیں۔،لیکن بعد میں عوام اور ادارہ ہذا کی بے توجی کی وجہ سے یہ شکستہ حالی کا شکار ہوئی۔ 

عوام کے سہولت کے لئے بنائی گی گھوڑا ٹرین آج شکستہ ہالی کا شکار ہے۔ افسوس کہ ہم نے اسے 

آباد رکھنے کی بجائے خود شکستہ حالی کا شکار کیا۔

ڈی۔سی ۔او  فیصل آباد جناب اقبال واہلہ صاحب نے دلچسپی کا اظہار کرتے ہوئے 2010 میں اس ٹرین کی مرمت اور دوبارہ بحالی کا آغاز کروایا ،لیکن کچھ عرصہ بعد انکا ٹرانسفر ہونے کی وجہ سے کام رک گیا۔
